1GD-FTV VACUUM PUMP INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL VACUUM PUMP UNION


    1. B007VIP

      Install the 2 new gaskets and the vacuum pump union with the union bolt.

      Torque:
      14 N*m  { 140 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Check that the stopper of the vacuum pump union with union is securely held on the vacuum pump assembly.

  2. INSTALL CAMSHAFT OIL SEAL RETAINER

  3. INSTALL VACUUM PUMP ASSEMBLY


    1. When using new vacuum pump assembly:


      1. B007PH7

        Apply engine oil to the No. 2 and No. 3 O-rings installed in a new vacuum pump assembly.

    2. When reusing vacuum pump assembly:


      1. Install a new No. 2 and No. 3 O-rings to the vacuum pump assembly.

        Apply engine oil to the No. 2 and No. 3 O-rings installed in the vacuum pump assembly.

      Install the vacuum pump assembly so that the oil pipe engages with the hole of the camshaft and the coupling teeth with the grooves on the camshaft tip.

      Note


      • Ensure that the vacuum pump assembly is installed securely.

      • Be careful not to pinch the O-ring.

    4. Install the vacuum pump assembly with the 3 bolts.

      Torque:
      21 N*m  { 214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      After installation, check that there are no gaps between the matching surfaces and that the vacuum pump assembly is not installed at an angle.

  4. CONNECT NO. 1 VACUUM TRANSMITTING HOSE


    1. Connect the No. 1 vacuum transmitting hose to the vacuum pump assembly.

  5. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY TO ENGINE STAND

  6. INSTALL ENGINE ASSEMBLY

  7. INSPECT VACUUM PUMP OPERATION


    1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum pump.

      Connect the hose of the vacuum gauge to the vacuum pump.

    3. Start the engine and warm it up for more than 2 minutes.

    4. With the engine idling, check the negative pressure of the vacuum pump.

      Standard pressure
      Higher than 87 kPa (650 mmHg, 25.6 in.Hg)

      Tech Tips


      • It is necessary to replace the vacuum pump every 200000 km (124000 miles).

      • If the result is not as specified, replace the vacuum pump.

    5. Remove the vacuum gauge from the vacuum pump.

    6. Connect the vacuum hose to the vacuum pump.
