STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL

CAUTION:

Some of these service operations affect the SRS. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS before servicing (Click here).

PROCEDURE

  1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Click here).

  3. REMOVE STEERING PAD

  4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

      Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

    2. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.

    3. Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable.

      Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

      Note:

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.

  5. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH (w/ Cruise Control System)

  6. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WIRE (w/ Cruise Control System)

    1. Remove the cruise control switch wire.

  7. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    1. Disconnect the connector and connector cramp.

    2. C324290

      Remove the 2 screws.

    3. Detach the 5 pins and 2 claws to remove the steering pad switch.

  8. REMOVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Shift Paddle Switch)
