REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY


    1. Support the rear differential carrier assembly using a jack.

    2. Install a new snap ring to the rear drive shaft assembly.

    3. Coat the spline of the inboard joint shaft assembly with toyota genuine differential gear oil LT.

    4. Install the shaft snap ring with the opening facing downward.

    5. Align the shaft splines and install the drive shaft assembly with a brass bar and hammer.

      Note


      • Be careful not to damage the drive shaft dust cover, boot or oil seal.

      • Keep the drive shaft assembly level while handling it.

      • Do not tap the axle side of the drive shaft with the hammer.

      • Set the hole snap ring with the opening facing down word.

      Tech Tips

      Whether the inboard joint shaft is in contact with the pinion shaft or not can be confirmed from the sound or feeling when tapping it in.

    6. Install the rear differential mount stopper upper and rear differential mount stopper lower to the rear differential carrier assembly.

      Install the rear differential carrier assembly along with the rear differential mount stopper with the 5 bolts.

      Torque:
      A
      62 N*m  { 632 kgf*cm, 46 ft.*lbf }
      B
      95 N*m  { 969 kgf*cm, 70 ft.*lbf }

  2. INSTALL PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY

  3. ADD DIFFERENTIAL OIL

  4. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

    Torque:
    120 N*m  { 1224 kgf*cm, 89 ft.*lbf }
