REAR AIRBAG SENSOR REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Tip:
  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE

  1. PRECAUTION

    CAUTION:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Note:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  3. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY

  4. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE

  5. DISCONNECT REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP

    Tip:

    Disconnect the rear door opening trim weatherstrip to the extent that allows the removal of the rear seat side garnish.

  6. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK HINGE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  7. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH

  8. REMOVE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR

    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Disconnect the connector from the rear airbag sensor.

      Note:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

      1. Push down the white housing lock and slide the yellow CPA. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

      2. Push down the white housing lock again and disconnect the connector.

        Note:

        Do not push down the part (A) shown in the illustration when disconnecting.

    4. B333353

      Remove the nut and rear airbag sensor from the vehicle body.

      Note:

      Loosen the nut while holding the rear airbag sensor because the rear airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.

    5. After disconnecting the connector, check that the position of the white housing lock is correct as shown in the illustration.
