ENGINE UNIT DETAILS TIMING BELT

  1. CONSTRUCTION

    1. The timing belt runs in a cavity in the cylinder head/block. It is exposed to oily vapor when the engine is running: it is designed for this environment.

    2. Operation of the timing belt is the same as a conventional timing belt; it is tensioned by a No. 1 timing belt idler sub-assembly and a timing belt tensioner assembly. No. 1 timing belt idler sub-assembly and timing belt tensioner assembly can be accessed via a sealed inspection cover.
