AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT BEAM LEVEL CONTROL SYSTEM(for Sedan) SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. Note:
    • Initialize the rear height control sensor sub-assembly after the vehicle height is changed due to replacement of suspension components or after performing such operations as removal and reinstallation or replacement of the rear height control sensor sub-assembly.

    • Make sure to perform initialization after replacing the headlight leveling ECU assembly.

AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT BEAM LEVEL CONTROL SYSTEM

    1. General

      • This system maintains the low beam headlights at a constant level while the vehicle is stopped.

      • This system is controlled by the headlight leveling ECU assembly. The headlight leveling ECU assembly detects the vehicle posture via the rear height control sensor sub-assembly and detects the vehicle speed via the combination meter assembly. The headlight leveling ECU assembly controls each headlight leveling motor based on this information in order to change the headlight reflector angle.

    2. Function of Main Components

      Component

      Outline

      Rear Height Control Sensor Sub-assembly

Detects changes in the vehicle height.

Combination Meter Assembly (for Multi-information Display (Segment LCD Type))

      • Illuminates the headlight leveling warning light for 3 seconds when the ignition switch is turned to ON (bulb check function).

      • Illuminates the headlight leveling warning light to alert the driver when a malfunction is detected.

Combination Meter Assembly (for Multi-information Display (Color Type))

Displays "Headlight system malfunction. Visit your dealer." on the multi-information display if a malfunction is detected by the headlight leveling ECU assembly.

      Headlight Leveling Motor

Based on the signals received from the headlight leveling ECU assembly, operates to move the headlight projector to change the angle of the low beam.

      Headlight Leveling ECU Assembly

      • Based on signals that are transmitted by the rear height control sensor sub-assembly and combination meter assembly, detects the amount of variance of the vehicle posture while the vehicle is stopped.

      • Outputs control signals to the headlight leveling motors based on the detected amount of variance.

Brake Actuator Assembly (Skid Control ECU)

Transmits speed sensor signals (front LH and RH) to the headlight leveling ECU assembly.
