CYLINDER HEAD(w/ Glow Plug Controller) DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE VALVE STEM CAP

   1. 

      Remove the 8 valve stem caps from the 4 intake valves and 4 exhaust valves.

      Tip:

      Arrange the removed parts in the correct order.

2. REMOVE INTAKE VALVE

   1. 

      Using SST, remove the 8 valve spring retainer locks from the 4 valve spring retainers.

      Tip:

      Arrange the removed parts in the correct order.

   2. Remove the 4 valve spring retainers, 4 outer compression springs and 4 intake valves from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

      Tip:

      Arrange the removed parts in the correct order.

3. REMOVE EXHAUST VALVE

   1. 

      Using SST, remove the 8 valve spring retainer locks from the 4 valve spring retainers.

      Tip:

      Arrange the removed parts in the correct order.

   2. Remove the 4 valve spring retainers, 4 outer compression springs and 4 exhaust valves from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

      Tip:

      Arrange the removed parts in the correct order.

4. REMOVE VALVE STEM OIL SEAL

   1. 

      Using needle-nose pliers, remove the 8 valve stem oil seals from the 4 intake valve guide bushes and 4 exhaust valve guide bushes.

5. REMOVE VALVE SPRING SEAT

   1. 

      Remove the 8 valve spring seats from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

6. REMOVE VALVE ROCKER ARM PIVOT

   1. 

      Remove the 8 valve rocker arm pivots from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

7. REMOVE NO. 1 WITH HEAD TAPER SCREW PLUG

   1. 

      Using a 6 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 3 No. 1 with head taper screw plugs and 3 gaskets from the cylinder head sub-assembly.
