SFI SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:P050031

DTC Code DTC Name
P050031 Vehicle Speed Sensor "A" No Signal

DESCRIPTION

The combination meter assembly distributes the vehicle speed signal sent by the brake actuator assembly (skid control ECU) to the ECM and other ECUs via direct line. The combination meter assembly outputs 11 to 14 V from terminal SI to the brake actuator assembly (skid control ECU). The brake actuator assembly (skid control ECU) converts this voltage into the vehicle speed signal. When 4.5 to 14 V is applied to terminal +S of the combination meter assembly by the ECM, the combination meter assembly converts this voltage into the vehicle speed signal received at terminal SI.

Vehicle Speed Sensor "A" No Signal

While vehicle being driven, no vehicle speed sensor signal transmitted to ECM (2 trip detection logic).

  • Open or short in speed signal circuit

  • Combination meter assembly

  • ECM

SAE Code:

P0500

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

If there is no speed signal from the combination meter assembly even though the ECM determines that the vehicle is being driven, the ECM interprets this as a malfunction in the speed signal circuit. The ECM then illuminates the MIL and stores this DTC.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Tip:

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE
