PARKING BRAKE CABLE REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

  1. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX MOUNTING BRACKET

  3. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE EQUALIZER

      Lock Nut

      *2

      No. 1 Cable Adjusting Nut

      Loosen the lock nut and No. 1 cable adjusting nut to completely release the parking brake cable.

      Disconnect the 3 cable ends and remove the equalizer.

  4. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  5. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE

    1. Remove the cable clamp (labeled A) from the parking brake cable and vehicle body.

    2. Remove the 2 casing cap bolts (labeled B) from the vehicle body.

    3. Remove the 2 bolts (labeled C) from the vehicle body.

    4. Remove the 2 bolts (labeled D) from the crossmember.

    5. Remove the 2 bolts (labeled E) from the rear suspension crossmember.

    6. Remove the 2 bolts (labeled F) from the trailing arms.

    7. Disconnect the cables from the parking brake shoe levers and backing plates.

      1. Disconnect the cables from the levers.

      2. Remove the bolts and disconnect the cables from the backing plates.
