B2799 Engine Immobiliser System Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is stored when one of the following occurs: 1) the ECM detects errors in its own communications with the transponder key ECU; 2) the ECM detects errors in the communication lines; or 3) the ECU - ECM communication ID between the transponder key ECU and ECM is different and an engine start is attempted. Before troubleshooting for this DTC, make sure no engine immobiliser DTCs are output. If output, troubleshoot the engine immobiliser DTCs first.

  • An error in communication between the ECM and transponder key ECU.

  • An error in the communication lines.

  • The ECU - ECM communication ID is different during communication with the transponder key ECU.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note:

  • When the transponder key ECU and/or ECM is replaced, reregister ECU-ECM communication ID.

  • for 1WW:

    After turning the ignition switch off, make sure to wait at least 6 minutes before disconnecting the ECM connector or replacing the ECM.

PROCEDURE

  1. CLEAR DTC

    1. Clear the DTCs (Click here).

  2. CHECK FOR DTC

    1. Check for DTCs (Click here).

      OK

      DTC B2799 is not output.

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK

    (Click here)

  3. REREGISTER ECU - ECM COMMUNICATION ID

    1. Reregister the ECU - ECM communication ID.

  4. CLEAR DTC

    1. Clear the DTCs (Click here).

  5. CHECK FOR DTC

    1. Check for DTCs (Click here).

      OK

      DTC B2799 is not output.

    END

  6. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the ECM and transponder key ECU.

      OK

      Connectors are properly connected.

    CONNECT CONNECTOR CORRECTLY

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSPONDER KEY ECU - ECM)

    1. U184680E02

      Disconnect the H110 ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the A76 ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    1. Replace the transponder key ECU with a new one.

      DTC B2799 is not output.

      Tip:

      If replacing the ECM, refer to the procedures below.
