Key Reminder Buzzer does not Sound

DESCRIPTION

The key reminder warning buzzer sounds when the driver side door is opened while the ignition switch is ACC, or while the ignition switch is off and the key is in the ignition key cylinder. The key reminder warning buzzer is activated when the main body ECU sends an unlock warning switch signal and front door courtesy light switch LH*1 or RH*2 signal to the combination meter.

  • *2: for RHD

Tip:

Since the key reminder warning system has functions that use CAN communication, first confirm that there is no malfunction in the communication system by inspecting CAN communication in accordance with the "How to Proceed with Troubleshooting" procedures. Then, conduct the following inspection procedure.

Note:

As the door control battery is installed between the vehicle battery and main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly), first perform the inspections in On-Vehicle Inspection to confirm that there are no malfunctions in the power source circuit for the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly) before performing this troubleshooting procedure (Click here).

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (FRONT DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH)

    • *1: for LHD

    • *2: for RHD

    1. Check the Data List for proper functioning of the front door courtesy light switch LH*1 or RH*2.

    1. Check the Data List for proper functioning of the unlock warning switch.

  3. INSPECT UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the unlock warning switch (Click here).

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    REPLACE UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU AND BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the H7 switch connector.

    2. Disconnect the DE ECU connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  5. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (OPERATION)

    1. Temporarily replace the combination meter assembly with a new or normally functioning one (Click here).

    2. Check the key reminder warning system (Click here).

      OK

      The key reminder warning system functions properly.

    END (COMBINATION METER IS DEFECTIVE)
