DESCRIPTION

The security courtesy switch (engine hood courtesy switch) is installed together with the hood lock. This switch turns OFF when the engine hood is opened and turns ON when the engine hood is closed.

  1. INSPECT HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY (SECURITY COURTESY SWITCH)

    1. Remove the the hood lock assembly (security courtesy switch).


    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Unlock position 10 kΩ or higher
      1 - 2 Lock position Below 1 Ω

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SECURITY COURTESY SWITCH - THEFT WARNING ECU AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the E3 hood lock assembly (security courtesy switch) connector.

    2. Disconnect the T36*1 or T39*2 theft warning ECU assembly connector.


      • *1: except 2 Step Unlock Function

      • *2: for 2 Step Unlock Function

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      except 2 Step Unlock Function
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E3-1 - T36-9 (DSWH) Always Below 1 Ω
      E3-1 or T36-9 (DSWH) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E3-2 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      for 2 Step Unlock Function
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E3-1 - T39-9 (DSWH) Always Below 1 Ω
      E3-1 or T39-9 (DSWH) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E3-2 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
