STEERING PAD(for Dual Type) REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

  1. PRECAUTION

    CAUTION:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Note:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  3. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER

      Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and guide to remove the lower No. 2 steering wheel cover.

      Tip:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY

    CAUTION:

    When storing the steering pad, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Using a T30H "TORX" screwdriver, push in the 3 torsion springs to detach the 3 claws.

      Note:
      • Do not drop the steering pad assembly.

      • When disconnecting the steering pad, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

      Tip:

      Insert the T30H "TORX" screwdriver from the installation hole for thr lower No. 2 steering wheel cover and 2 service holes.

      Protective Tape

      Disconnect the horn connector from the steering pad assembly.

    5. Using a screwdriver, release the 2 airbag connector locks.

      Tip:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    6. Disconnect the 2 airbag connectors to remove the steering pad assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Note:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
