PARKING BRAKE LEVER REMOVAL

CAUTION:

Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing (Click here).

Tip:

  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

PROCEDURE

  1. CLEAN CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note:

    • w/ Navigation System for HDD:

      After the ignition switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately a minute to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the ignition switch off, wait a minute or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Click here).

  2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH

    1. Remove the front seat assembly LH (Click here).

  3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH

    Tip:

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  4. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the console box assembly (Click here).

  5. REMOVE NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX MOUNTING BRACKET

      Fold back the floor carpet, and remove the 4 bolts and No. 2 console box mounting bracket.

  6. DISCONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE

      Remove the lock nut and loosen the adjusting nut.

      Disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable from the parking brake equalizer as shown in the illustration.

    3. Disconnect the No. 2 parking brake cable from the parking brake equalizer.

      Tip:

      Use the same procedure described for the No. 3 parking brake cable.

  7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.

    2. C204993

      Remove the 2 bolts and parking brake lever assembly.

  8. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE EQUALIZER

      Detach the 2 claws to disconnect the parking brake equalizer from the No. 1 parking brake cable.

    2. C172138

      Detach the 2 claws to remove the parking brake equalizer from the parking brake cable end stopper.

  9. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE END STOPPER

      Remove the parking brake cable end stopper from the No. 1 parking brake cable.

  10. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the adjusting nut.

    2. C204995

      Pull up the parking brake lever claw.

    3. C204996

      Remove the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.

  11. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    1. C204997

      Remove the screw and parking brake switch from the parking brake lever.

  12. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER SUPPORT BRACKET

      Detach the 2 clamps from the parking brake lever support bracket.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and parking brake lever support bracket.
