Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides, except where indicated.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM

      Apply a light coat of grease to the rear disc brake pads as shown in the illustration.

      Note


      • When applying grease, use the grease enclosed with a rear disc brake pad kit or supplied grease (Part No. 90999-94254) or equivalent.

      • Keep the lining surface of the rear disc brake pad free from grease.

      *1 Rear Disc Brake Pad
      *2 No. 1 Anti-Squeal Shim
      *3 No. 2 Anti-Squeal Shim
      *4 Inner Anti-Rattle Spring
      B006AHR Disc Brake Grease

      Apply disc brake grease to the rear disc brake pads and No. 1 anti-squeal shims at the positions shown in the illustration.

      Note


      • Use the grease supplied with the anti-squeal shim kit or disc brake grease as the disc brake grease.

      • Keep the lining surface of the rear disc brake pad free from grease.

      • Do not apply grease between the No. 1 and No. 2 anti-squeal shims.

    3. Install the inner anti-rattle springs to each of the rear disc brake pads.

    4. Install the No. 1 and No. 2 anti-squeal shims to each of the rear disc brake pads.

  2. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE PAD

    CAUTION:

    Be careful not to get pinched by the disc brake cylinder assembly or other parts when installing the rear disc brake pads.

      Using SST, push back the rear disc brake piston.

      Note


      • Make sure the brake fluid does not overflow from the reservoir.

      • Do not forcibly push in the rear disc brake piston.

      for RH side:


      1. Install the pad wear indicator wire assembly RH to the rear disc brake pad (inner) with a new pad wear indicator retainer.

        Note


        • The rear disc brake pad with the pad wear indicator wire assembly RH must be installed to the inside position.

        • When replacing the rear disc brake pads with new ones, make sure to replace the pad wear indicator wire assembly RH and pad wear indicator retainer at the same time.

      Install the 2 rear disc brake pads to the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH.

    4. Install the No. 1 anti-rattle spring to the rear disc brake cylinder LH.

      While pressing the area (A), install the 2 hole pins (B).

      While pressing the area (A), slightly pull out the hole pin (B) from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH, and install the pin hold clip.

      for RH side:


      1. Connect the pad wear indicator wire assembly RH to the rear wheel bearing dust deflector with the 4 clamps.

      2. Connect the bleeder plug cap to the rear disc brake bleeder plug.

      3. Connect the pad wear indicator wire connector to the rear speed sensor RH.

  3. CONNECT BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP CONNECTOR (w/o Vacuum Brake Booster)

  4. INSPECT AND ADJUST BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR (w/ Vacuum Brake Booster)

  5. INSPECT AND ADJUST BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR (w/o Vacuum Brake Booster)

  6. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
