FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY(for 4WD/AWD) REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

2. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

   • for 2AD-FTV, 2AD-FHV: (Click here)

3. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH

4. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH

5. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID

6. DRAIN MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL

7. DRAIN CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSAXLE FLUID

8. DRAIN TRANSFER OIL

9. REMOVE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT LH

   Click here

10. REMOVE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT RH

    Tip:

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

11. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH

    Click here

12. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH

    Tip:

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

13. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH

14. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

    Tip:

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

15. DISCONNECT FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

16. DISCONNECT FRONT LOWER NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    Tip:

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

17. DISCONNECT STEERING KNUCKLE WITH AXLE HUB LH

    1. 

       Remove the bolt and detach the 2 guides.

    2. 

       *a

       Matchmark

       Put matchmarks on the front drive shaft assembly and front axle hub sub-assembly.

       Note:

       Do not use a punch to make the matchmarks.

    3. Using a plastic-faced hammer, disconnect the front drive shaft assembly from the steering knuckle with axle hub.

       Note:

       • Be careful not to damage the boot and drive shaft dust cover.

       • Do not excessively push out the drive shaft from the front axle hub.

18. DISCONNECT STEERING KNUCKLE WITH AXLE HUB RH

    Tip:

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

19. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH

    1. 

       Using SST, remove the front drive shaft assembly LH.

       09520-24010

       09520-32040

       Note:

       • Be careful not to damage the transaxle oil seal, inboard joint boot and drive shaft dust cover.

       • Be careful not to drop the front drive shaft assembly LH.

20. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH

    1. 

       Disconnect the drive shaft bearing bracket hole snap ring from the drive shaft bearing bracket.

    2. Remove the bolt and front drive shaft assembly RH from the drive shaft bearing bracket.

       Note:

       • Be careful not to damage the transaxle oil seal, inboard joint boot and drive shaft dust cover.

       • Be careful not to drop the front drive shaft assembly RH.

    3. Remove the drive shaft bearing bracket hole snap ring from the front drive shaft assembly RH.

21. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING LH

    1. 

       Using a screwdriver, remove the front drive shaft hole snap ring LH.
