Note
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
Note
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

When storing the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.
If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
Check that the ignition switch is off.
Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
Remove the 4 bolts.

Place your hands at the location indicated shown in the illustration, pull the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly toward the rear of the vehicle to detach the claw and clip.

Place your hands at the location indicated shown in the illustration, pull the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly toward the rear of the vehicle to detach the claw and clip and remove it.
Note
When removing the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

Using a screwdriver, release the connector lock and disconnect the airbag connector.
Note
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
