Tech Tips
Learned values and history DTCs for the multi-mode manual transaxle system are stored in the EEPROM in the TCM. This information is not cleared even if the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal. To clear all the stored information, initialize the TCM.
If initialization cannot be performed normally, there may be a malfunction in the shift lever position sensor, NE signal circuit or CAN communication.
If any parts of the clutch system hydraulic circuit have been replaced or removed and installed, bleed the air from the clutch system before performing initialization.
When replacing the following parts, proceed with the operation in the order listed in the table below.
Part Installed | Operation Order | See Procedure |
---|---|---|

Note
Do not perform initialization unless parts specified in the "Part Installed" column in the table above have been replaced.
INITIALIZATION AND LEARNING
Tech Tips
Using the GTS, initialization and learning of the multi-mode manual transaxle system can be performed sequentially.
Perform the following procedure to ensure the TCM is initialized and stores the adjusted clutch position (stopper position, clamp position, and standby position) and gear position (shift position and select position).
Prepare the vehicle.
Stop the vehicle.
Move the shift lever to N.
Turn the ignition switch off.
Apply the parking brake.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Multi-Mode M/T / Utility / Parts Exchange.
