The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.
PROCEDURE
TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT
Tech Tips
All bolts, screws and clips relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabetic code in the table below.
PRECAUTION
Note
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
Note
When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.
REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
REMOVE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
REMOVE NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE

for LHD:
Put protective tape around the No. 1 switch hole base.
Detach the 4 clips and 2 claws.
Disconnect the connectors and remove the No. 1 switch hole base.

for RHD:
Put protective tape around the No. 1 switch hole base.
Detach the 4 clips and 2 claws.
Disconnect the connectors and remove the No. 1 switch hole base.
REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

Remove the 2 screws <A>.
Detach the claw and guide.
Disconnect the connector and remove the No. 1 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.
REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
Detach the 3 claws and guide.
Disconnect the connector and remove the No. 2 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.
REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
REMOVE COIN BOX ASSEMBLY
Slightly bend the upper part of the coin box assembly to release the 2 stoppers and open the coin box assembly until it is horizontal.
Pull the coin box toward the rear of the vehicle to detach the 2 hinges and remove the coin box assembly.
REMOVE STEREO OPENING COVER WITH AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY (w/o Audio)
Remove the 4 screws.
Detach the 2 clips.
Disconnect the connector and remove the stereo opening cover with air conditioning control assembly.
REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY (w/ Audio, for Radio Receiver Type)
REMOVE RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY (w/ Audio, for Radio and Display Type)
REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY

Remove the 2 clips <B>.
Detach the 3 claws and remove the defroster nozzle assembly.
REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
Detach the guide and remove the No. 2 heater to register duct.
REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH
REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH
REMOVE ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY
REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
Remove the 9 screws <C>, 2 bolts <D> and screw <E>.

Remove the 2 screws.
Detach the clamps.
for Automatic Air Conditioning System:
Disconnect the cooler (room temperature sensor) thermistor.
Detach the 2 guides and remove the lower instrument panel sub-assembly.
