Note
All the stored DTCs and freeze frame data and are cleared if: 1) the ECM is changed from normal mode to check mode or vice versa; or 2) the ignition switch is turned from ON to ACC or off while in check mode. Before changing modes, always check and make a note of any DTCs and freeze frame data.
Tech Tips
DTCs which are stored in the ECM can be output to the intelligent tester. The intelligent tester can display both current and pending DTCs.
Malfunctions that were not detected a second time by the ECM during the second driving cycle are stored as pending DTCs.
CHECK FOR DTC (Using intelligent tester)
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.
Check the DTC(s) and freeze frame data, and then write them down.

CLEAR DTC (Using intelligent tester)
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC / Clear.
Press the YES button.
CLEAR DTC (Without using intelligent tester)
Perform either of the following operations:
Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal for more than 1 minute.
Remove the EFI MAIN and ETCS fuses from the engine room No. 1 relay block (located inside the engine compartment) for more than 1 minute.
