REAR AXLE HUB BOLT REPLACEMENT

  • Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

  • The procedures listed below are for the LH side.


  1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  2. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Release the parking brake lever, and remove the drum.

      Tech Tips

      If the drum cannot be removed easily, perform the following procedures.

      Remove the hole plug (adjust) and insert a screwdriver into the hole on the backing plate, and hold the automatic adjust lever away from the adjuster.

    3. Using another screwdriver, compress the brake shoe adjuster by turning the adjusting wheel.

  3. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB BOLT

    1. Temporarily install the 2 nuts to the hub bolts as shown in the illustration.

    2. Using SST and a brass bar or equivalent to hold the axle shaft, remove the hub bolt.

  4. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB BOLT

    A01E00RE01

    1. Install a plate washer and nut to a new hub bolt, as shown in the illustration.

    2. Using a brass bar or equivalent to hold the axle shaft, install the hub bolt by torquing the nut.

    3. Remove the 2 nuts from the hub bolts.

  5. INSTALL REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY

  6. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

    Torque:
    152 N*m  { 1,550 kgf*cm, 112 ft.*lbf, for 2WD (steel type) }
    121 N*m  { 1,234 kgf*cm, 89 ft.*lbf, for 2WD (aluminum type) }
    105 N*m  { 1,071 kgf*cm, 77 ft.*lbf, for 4WD and Pre-Runner }
