DIFFERENTIAL CASE DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE OIL SEAL

   1. 

      Using SST, remove the front differential case oil seal from the front differential case.

2. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE FRONT TAPERED ROLLER BEARING

   1. 

      *a	Turn
      *b	Hold

      Using SST, remove the front differential case front tapered roller bearing from the front differential case.

3. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE REAR TAPERED ROLLER BEARING

   1. 

      *a	Turn
      *b	Hold

      Using SST, remove the front differential case rear tapered roller bearing from the front differential case.

4. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL RING GEAR

   1. 

      *a

      Matchmark

      Put matchmarks on the front differential ring gear and front differential case.

   2. 

      Remove the 16 bolts.

   3. Using a plastic-faced hammer, remove the front differential ring gear.

5. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL PINION SHAFT STRAIGHT PIN

   1. 

      Using SST and a hammer, loosen the staked part of the front differential case.

      Note:

      Do not grind the tip of SST with grinder other device.

   2. Using a 5 mm pin punch and hammer, tap out the front differential pinion shaft straight pin from the front differential case.

6. REMOVE NO. 1 FRONT DIFFERENTIAL PINION SHAFT

   1. 

      Remove the No. 1 front differential pinion shaft from the front differential case.

7. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL SIDE GEAR

   1. 

      Remove the 2 front differential pinions, 2 front differential pinion thrust washers, 2 front differential side gears and 2 front differential side gear thrust washers from the front differential case.

      Tip:

      While rotating the front differential side gears, remove the 2 pinions and 2 pinion thrust washers.
