FUEL INJECTION PUMP INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT FUEL TEMPERATURE SENSOR


    1. Measure the resistance of the sensor.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      1 (E2) - 2 (THF) 2.21 to 2.69 kΩ at 20°C (68°F)
      1 (E2) - 2 (THF) 0.287 to 0.349 kΩ at 80°C (176°F)

      Note

      If checking the sensor in water, be careful not to allow water to contact the terminals. After checking, wipe the water off the sensor.

      If the result is not as specified, replace the sensor.

  2. INSPECT INJECTION PUMP DELIVERY VALVE

    Note

    Do not touch the sliding surface of the delivery valves.


    1. Pull up the valve and release it. Check that it sinks smoothly to the valve seat. If the operation is not as specified, replace the valve and valve seat as a set.

      Tech Tips

      Before using a new valve set, wash off the rust prevention compound with diesel fuel. Then rewash with diesel fuel and perform the above test.
