METER / GAUGE SYSTEM Fuel Receiver Gauge Malfunction

DESCRIPTION


Note

When the combination meter is removed or replaced, its connector is disconnected or fuel is added, the fuel receiver gauge display will return to normal within a maximum of 16 minutes after the ignition switch is turned to ON or when vehicle speed is input.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - FUEL SUCTION WITH PUMP AND GAUGE TUBE OR FUEL TANK VENT TUBE)


    1. Disconnect the C25 combination meter assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the F15 fuel suction with pump and gauge tube assembly*1 or F13 fuel tank vent tube sub-assembly*2 connector.


      • *1: for 1TR-FE, 2TR-FE, 1GR-FE

      • *2: for 1KD-FTV, 2KD-FTV, 5L-E

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      for 1TR-FE, 2TR-FE, 1GR-FE
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C25-2 (ES) - F15-3 (FE) Always Below 1 Ω
      C25-3 (L) - F15-2 (FS) Always Below 1 Ω
      C25-2 (ES) - C25-3 (L) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C25-2 (ES) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C25-3 (L) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      for 1KD-FTV, 2KD-FTV, 5L-E

  3. INSPECT FUEL SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the fuel sender gauge assembly.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      1 - 2 Float position F (upper) 3 to 5 Ω
      Float position E (lower) 109 to 111 Ω
