WIPER SWITCH INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (for RHD)

      Component without harness connected

      (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

      Check the windshield wiper switch assembly.


      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Front Wiper Switch
        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
        D58-2 (+1) - D58-3 (+B) MIST Below 1 Ω
        D58-2 (+1) - D58-4 (+S) OFF
        D58-2 (+1) - D58-4 (+S) INT
        D58-2 (+1) - D58-3 (+B) LO
        D58-1 (+2) - D58-3 (+B) HI

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch.

    2. Check the front washer switch.


      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
        D57-1 (WF) - D57-2 (EW) ON Below 1 Ω
        OFF 10 kΩ or higher

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch.

      Check the intermittent operation.


      1. Turn the ignition switch to on and turn the windshield wiper switch assembly to INT.

      2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Tech Tips

        Measure the voltage from the rear of the connectors while they are connected to the windshield wiper switch assembly.

        Specified Condition
        Voltage changes as shown in the illustration below.

      (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

      Check the washer operation.


      1. Turn the ignition switch to on and turn the windshield wiper switch assembly off.

      2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Tech Tips

        Measure the voltage from the rear of the connectors while they are connected to the windshield wiper switch assembly.

        Specified Condition
        Voltage changes as shown in the illustration below.

        *c Approximately 2.2 seconds - -

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

  2. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

      Check the windshield wiper switch assembly.


      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Front Wiper Switch
        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
        D58-3 (+1) - D58-2 (+B) MIST Below 1 Ω
        D58-3 (+1) - D58-1 (+S) OFF
        D58-3 (+1) - D58-1 (+S) INT
        D58-3 (+1) - D58-2 (+B) LO
        D58-4 (+2) - D58-2 (+B) HI

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch.

    2. Check the front washer switch.


      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
        D57-3 (WF) - D57-2 (EW) ON Below 1 Ω
        OFF 10 kΩ or higher

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch.

      Check the intermittent operation.


      1. Turn the ignition switch to on and turn the windshield wiper switch assembly to INT.

      2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Measure the voltage from the rear of the connectors while they are connected to the windshield wiper switch assembly.

        Voltage changes as shown in the illustration below.
