INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT UREA TUBE WITH HEATER ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the urea tube with heater assembly connector.

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 6.39 to 7.81 Ω

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (UREA TUBE WITH HEATER ASSEMBLY - UREA PUMP CONTROL ECU)

    1. Disconnect the urea tube with heater assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the urea pump control ECU connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance:
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A46-2(HTUL) - A45-20(HTL) Always Below 1 Ω
      A46-1(GND) - A45-32(EHTL) Always Below 1 Ω
      A46-2(HTUL) or A45-20(HTL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A46-1(GND) or A45-32(EHTL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    OK
  3. CLEAR DTC


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

    3. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    4. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 30 seconds or more.

  4. CHECK DTC OUTPUT


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Reductant Pipe Heater.

    4. Perform the Active Test.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    6. Read the DTCs.

      Result
      Result Proceed to
      DTC P20BB or P20BC is output A
      DTCs is not output B

  5. REPLACE UREA PUMP CONTROL ECU


    1. Replace the urea pump control ECU Click here.


    NEXT
  6. CLEAR DTC


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

    3. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    4. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 30 seconds or more.

  7. CHECK DTC OUTPUT


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the GTS on.

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Reductant Pipe Heater.

    4. Perform the Active Test.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.

    6. Confirm that the DTC is not output again.

  8. REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR


    1. Repair or replace the harness or connector.
