FRONT AIR CONDITIONING UNIT REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

  1. REMOVE COOLER EXPANSION VALVE (w/ Cooler System)

  2. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE

      Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the inlet heater water hose from the air conditioning unit assembly.

      Note:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the inlet heater water hose.

      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

  3. DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE

      Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the outlet heater water hose from the air conditioning unit assembly.

      Note:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the outlet heater water hose.

      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

  4. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH

  7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH

    Tip:

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  8. DISCONNECT FRONT FLOOR CARPET ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)

      Using a clip remover, remove the 3 clips.

    2. Disengage 3 guides and turn back the front floor carpet assembly as shown in the illustration.

  9. DISCONNECT FRONT FLOOR CARPET ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)

      Using a clip remover, remove the clip.

    2. Disengage the 3 guides and turn back the front floor carpet assembly as shown in the illustration.

  10. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 AIR DUCT (w/ Rear Air Duct)

      Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 2 air duct from the air conditioning unit assembly.

  11. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT (w/ Rear Air Duct)

      Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 1 air duct from the air conditioning unit assembly.

  12. REMOVE DRAIN COOLER HOSE (w/ Cooler System)

      Remove the drain cooler hose from the air conditioning unit assembly.

  13. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Disengage the clamp.

    2. Remove the bolt (A), screw, nut and No. 1 instrument panel brace sub-assembly from the instrument panel reinforcement assembly.

    3. Remove the bolt (B) and disconnect the earth wire.

  14. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL TO COWL BRACE

      Remove the nut.

    2. Remove the bolt and center instrument panel to cowl brace from the instrument panel reinforcement assembly.

  15. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY

    Note:
    • Be sure to support the air conditioning unit assembly when removing it. Failure to do so may cause the bracket of the air conditioning unit assembly to break.

    • When disassembling the air conditioning unit assembly, eliminate static electricity by touching the vehicle body to prevent the components from being damaged.

    1. Remove the nut and driver side junction block assembly from the instrument panel reinforcement assembly.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the 2 earth wires from the instrument panel reinforcement assembly.

      Disengage 2 clamps and disconnect the antenna cord sub-assembly from the instrument panel reinforcement assembly.

    4. Disengage each clamp from the instrument panel reinforcement assembly.

    5. Disconnect the connector.

    6. Remove the 5 bolts and instrument panel reinforcement assembly as shown in the illustration.

  16. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the 4 nuts, bolt and air conditioning unit assembly.
