CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM FAIL-SAFE CHART

If the following conditions are detected while the cruise control system is controlling vehicle speed, the system clears the vehicle speed stored in the ECM and cancels control of vehicle speed by the cruise control system.

Vehicle Condition Auto Cancel Condition Re-operation Condition

  • Cruise control indicator light goes off*5, *6

  • A warning message "Cruise control malfunction Visit your dealer" is displayed*5

  • A warning message "CRUISE CONTROL MALFUNCTION VISIT YOUR DEALER" is displayed*6

  • "Pong" warning sound is heard*5, *6

  • Cruise control indicator light illuminates in yellow*7

  • Open or short in stop light switch circuit

  • Problem with vehicle speed signal

 Cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control main switch.

  • Problem with stop light switch input circuit

  • Problem with cruise control main switch cancel circuit

  • Malfunction in the brake control system

  • Communication stop between skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) and ECM

 Ignition switch is turned off and back to ON again.
Cruise control indicator light remains illuminated (Control of vehicle speed by cruise control system is canceled)

  • Vehicle speed is lower than low speed limit (approximately 40 km/h [25 mph]) while driving with cruise control system controlling vehicle speed

  • Switching between 2WD and 4WD*2

  • Vehicle stability control system operates while driving with cruise control system controlling vehicle speed*1

  • TRC operates for certain amount of time while driving with cruise control system controlling vehicle speed*1

  • TRC and VSC are off*1

 Cruise control main switch is pressed to +RES.
Vehicle speed is lower than stored vehicle speed by approximately 16 km/h (10 mph) or more Cruise control main switch is pressed to -SET.
Cruise control indicator light goes off

  • Malfunction in the SFI system*3

  • Malfunction in the ECD system*4

 Cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control main switch.
