PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the E31 radio and display receiver assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the E1 and E44 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.

    3. Measure the resistance between the radio and display receiver assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the G3 and H3 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.

    2. Disconnect the E1 and E44 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.

    3. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

  5. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

    1. Replace the front No. 2 speaker assembly with a new or known good one.

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Click here

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Clear DTCs

    3. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Trouble Codes

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      Tip:
      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.

      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front No. 2 speaker assembly is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.

      • Perform the above inspection on both the LH and RH side.
