AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID REPLACEMENT

PROCEDURE

  1. REPLACE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID

    1. Lift the vehicle. [*1]

      Note:

      Set the vehicle on a lift so that the vehicle is kept level when it is lifted up (make sure that the tilt angle from the front to rear of the vehicle is within +/- 1°).

    2. for Full Cover Type:

      Remove the No. 1 engine under cover.

    3. Remove the rear engine under cover LH.

      Remove the refill plug and gasket from the automatic transaxle. [*2]

      Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the overflow plug and gasket from the automatic transaxle. [*3]

      Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube from the oil pan and drain the automatic transaxle fluid. [*4]

      Measure the amount of fluid that you drained. [*5]

      Tip:

      Add the same amount of fluid in step [*8].

    8. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, install the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube to the oil pan. [*6]

      0.8 N*m

      8 kgf*cm

      7 in.*lbf

      Temporarily install the gasket and the overflow plug. [*7]

      Tip:

      Reuse the old gasket. The plug will be removed again to adjust the fluid level.

      Add fluid to the refill hole using the same amount of fluid drained in step [*5]. [*8]

      Note:

      Use Toyota Genuine ATF WS.

      Temporarily install the gasket and refill plug to avoid fluid spillage. [*9]

      Tip:

      Reuse the old gasket. The plug will be removed again to adjust the fluid level.

    12. Lower the vehicle. [*10]

    13. Start the engine. [*11]

    14. Slowly move the shift lever from P to D, and then back to P. [*12]

    15. Allow the engine to idle for 30 seconds to warm it up. [*13]

    16. Turn the ignition switch off. [*14]

    17. Repeat steps [*1] to [*14].

    18. Repeat steps [*1] to [*10].

  2. ADJUST FLUID TEMPERATURE

  3. ADJUST FLUID LEVEL

  4. REBUILD WORK
