REAR BUMPER(w/o Rear No. 2 Seat) REASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL UPPER REAR BUMPER RETAINER LH

      Engage the 2 guides and install the upper rear bumper retainer LH as shown in the illustration to the rear combination light assembly LH.

    2. Engage the grommet.

      Engage the guide and pin as shown in the illustration.

    4. Install the upper rear bumper retainer LH with rear combination light assembly LH with the screw.

  2. INSTALL UPPER REAR BUMPER RETAINER RH

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  5. INSTALL NO. 1 REAR BUMPER REINFORCEMENT

      Install the No. 1 rear bumper reinforcement with the 6 nuts.

      Torque:
      35 N*m  { 357 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf }

  6. INSTALL REAR BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER (for Type A)

      Engage the 2 guides as shown in the illustration to install the rear bumper energy absorber.

  7. INSTALL REAR BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER (for Type B)

      Engage the 2 guides as shown in the illustration to install the rear bumper energy absorber.

  8. INSTALL LOWER REAR BUMPER RETAINER LH

      Engage the claw as shown in the illustration.

      Install the lower rear bumper retainer LH with the 2 screws.

  9. INSTALL LOWER REAR BUMPER RETAINER RH

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  10. CONNECT REAR WHEEL HOUSE LINER LH

      Connect the rear wheel house liner LH with the 2 screws and grommet.

  11. CONNECT REAR WHEEL HOUSE LINER RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  12. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE RETAINER LH

      Engage the claw as shown in the illustration.

      Engage the 3 clips as shown in the illustration to install the rear bumper side retainer LH.

  13. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SIDE RETAINER RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  14. INSTALL REAR BUMPER MOULDING (for Mesh Type Radiator Grille)

      Engage the 6 claws as shown in the illustration.

      Install the rear bumper moulding with the 5 screws.

  15. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SEAL BRACKET LH

    Tech Tips

    When installing the rear bumper seal bracket LH, heat the rear bumper assembly and rear bumper seal bracket LH using a heat light.

    Heating Temperature
    Item Temperature
    Rear Bumper Assembly 40 to 60°C (104 to 140°F)
    Rear Bumper Seal Bracket LH 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

    Note

    Do not heat the rear bumper assembly or rear bumper seal bracket LH excessively.


    1. Clean the rear bumper assembly surface.


      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper surface.

      2. Remove the double-sided tape from the rear bumper assembly.

      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

    2. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper assembly and rear bumper seal bracket LH.

    3. Remove the release paper from a new rear bumper seal bracket LH.

      Tech Tips

      After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

      Attach the double-sided tape to install the rear bumper seal bracket LH as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Press the rear bumper seal bracket LH firmly to install it.

  16. INSTALL REAR BUMPER SEAL BRACKET RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  17. INSTALL REAR BUMPER EXTENSION RETAINER LH

      Install the rear bumper extension retainer LH with the screw and 4 clips.

  19. INSTALL CENTER REAR BUMPER EXTENSION SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Engage the 3 guides and 7 claws as shown in the illustration.

    2. Install the center rear bumper extension sub-assembly with the 3 clips.

      Install a new grommet.

      Install the rear bumper plate LH with the 2 screws.

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  28. INSTALL ULTRASONIC SENSOR CLIP (w/ LEXUS Parking Assist-sensor System)

    Tech Tips

    When installing the ultrasonic sensor clip, heat the rear bumper assembly and ultrasonic sensor clip using a heat light.

    Heating Temperature
    Item Temperature
    Rear Bumper Assembly 40 to 60°C (104 to 140°F)
    Ultrasonic Sensor Clip 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

    Note

    Do not heat the rear bumper assembly or ultrasonic sensor clip excessively.


    1. Clean the rear bumper assembly surface.


      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper surface.

      2. Remove the double-sided tape from the rear bumper assembly.

    2. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper assembly and ultrasonic sensor clip.

    3. Remove the release paper from the 3 new ultrasonic sensor clips.

      Tech Tips

      After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

      Install the 3 ultrasonic sensor clips as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips


      • Apply the ultrasonic sensor clip along the line marked on the rear bumper cover.

      • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  29. INSTALL NO. 3 LUGGAGE ROOM WIRE (w/ LEXUS Parking Assist-sensor System)

      Engage the 3 clamps to install the No. 3 luggage room wire.
