VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:C1436

DTC Code DTC Name
C1436 Yaw Rate Sensor Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is stored when the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) detects improper installation of the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) or an abnormality in the difference between the yaw rate sensor value and the control value estimated based on the acceleration sensor, steering angle sensor and speed sensor signals.

Yaw Rate Sensor Malfunction

Difference between the yaw rate sensor value and the control value estimated inside the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) is abnormal.

  • Sensor installation

  • Yaw rate sensor (airbag sensor assembly)

Tire pressure warning light (w/ tire pressure warning system) blinks for 63 seconds and then remains on.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note:

When replacing the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly), perform acceleration sensor zero point calibration.

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Select the Data List using the GTS.

  2. CHECK STEERING ANGLE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Drive the vehicle straight ahead at 50 km/h (31 mph) or more for at least 30 seconds.

    3. Check that the steering wheel is correctly centered while driving straight ahead.

      Tip:

If front wheel alignment and steering are adjusted as a result of an off-center steering wheel, acquire the yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point again after the adjustments are completed.

      OK

The steering wheel is correctly centered.
