STARTER (for 1.4 kW Type) REASSEMBLY


  1. INSTALL STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the starter armature to the starter yoke.

  2. INSTALL STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the brush holder.

    2. A01DW9E

      Connect the 4 brushes to the starter brush holder.


      1. Using a screwdriver, hold back the spring.

      2. Connect the brush to the brush holder.

        Note

        Check that the positive (+) lead wire are not grounded.

    3. Place a new O-ring in position on the commutator end frame.

    4. Install a new dust protector to the commutator end frame.

      Install the commutator end frame with the 2 screws.

      Torque:
      1.5 N*m  { 15 kgf*cm, 13 in.*lbf }

  3. INSTALL MAGNET STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Apply high temperature grease to the idle gear, steel ball, return spring, clutch roller and retainer.

    2. A01E22X

      Insert the steel ball into the starter clutch shaft hole.

    3. Insert the return spring into the starter clutch shaft hole.

    4. Install the starter clutch, idle gear, retainer and clutch roller to the starter drive housing.

      Install the starter drive housing to the magnet starter switch with the 2 screws.

      Torque:
      5.9 N*m  { 60 kgf*cm, 52 in.*lbf }

  4. INSTALL STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY


    1. Install a new O-ring to the groove of the starter yoke.

    2. Align the claw of the starter yoke with the groove of the starter switch.

      Install the starter yoke to the starter switch.

      Install the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      5.9 N*m  { 60 kgf*cm, 52 in.*lbf }

    5. Connect the lead wire to terminal C with the nut.

      Torque:
      5.9 N*m  { 60 kgf*cm, 52 in.*lbf }
