VEHICLE PROXIMITY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM There is No Sound Made

DESCRIPTION

The vehicle approaching speaker controller receives stop light switch signals from the stop light switch assembly, vehicle speed signals from the combination meter sub-assembly, engine oil pressure switch signals from the engine oil pressure switch assembly and P position switch signals from the transmission control ECU assembly, and produces the warning sound from the vehicle approaching speaker assembly.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Using the GTS, enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Vehicle Proximity Notification System / Trouble Codes.

    5. Check for DTCs.

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Vehicle Proximity Notification System / Active Test.

    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the GTS.

    4. Disconnect the R17 rear combination light assembly LH connector.

    5. Disconnect the S18 rear combination light assembly RH connector.

    6. Disconnect the d1 center stop light set connector.

    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      1. Remove the combination meter sub-assembly with the connector(s) still connected.

      2. Connect an oscilloscope to terminal L27-15 (+S) and body ground.

      3. Turn the power switch on (IG).

      4. Turn a wheel slowly.

      5. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below.

        Tech Tips

        When the system is functioning normally, one wheel revolution generates 4 pulses. As the vehicle speed increases, the width indicated by (A) in the illustration narrows.
