REAR AXLE BEAM REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

  1. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the parking brake assembly (Click here).

  2. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH

  3. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER RH

  4. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (w/ HID Headlight)

  6. DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE (for LH Side)

      Remove the nut and sensor clamp.

    2. C205006

      Detach the 2 grommets.

    3. Disconnect the skid control sensor wire connector from the skid control sensor.

  7. DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE (for RH Side)

    Tip:

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  8. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

    Note:

    Immediately wash off any brake fluid that comes into contact with any painted surfaces.

  9. DISCONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH

      Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the brake tube while holding the rear flexible hose LH with a wrench.

      Note:
      • Do not bend or damage the brake tube.

      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake tube from the connection points.

    2. Remove the bolt and disconnect the rear flexible hose LH.

  10. DISCONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE RH

    1. C158397E06

      Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the brake tube while holding the rear flexible hose RH with a wrench.

      Note:
      • Do not bend or damage the brake tube.

      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake tube from the connection points.

    2. Remove the clip and disconnect the rear flexible hose RH.

  11. DISCONNECT REAR BRAKE FLEXIBLE HOSE (for LH Side)

      Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the brake tube while holding the rear brake flexible hose with a wrench.

      Note:
      • Do not bend or damage the brake tube.

      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt or dust to enter the brake tube from the connection points.

    2. Remove the clip and disconnect the rear brake flexible hose.

  12. DISCONNECT REAR BRAKE FLEXIBLE HOSE (for RH Side)

    Tip:

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  13. REMOVE NO. 4 REAR BRAKE TUBE

    1. C155135

      Remove the nut and No. 4 rear brake tube from the rear axle beam assembly.

  14. REMOVE NO. 3 REAR BRAKE TUBE

    Tip:

    Perform the same procedure as for the No. 4 rear brake tube.

  15. DISCONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the bolt and casing cap from the body.

    2. Detach the clamp.

    3. C156828

      Remove the bolt and disconnect the parking brake cable.

  16. DISCONNECT NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

    Tip:

    Perform the same procedure as for the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

  17. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY LH

  18. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE DUST COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  19. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY RH

    Tip:

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  20. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE DUST COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

  21. LOOSEN REAR AXLE BEAM ASSEMBLY

    1. C208301

      Support the rear axle beam assembly using an engine lift and 2 wooden blocks as shown in the illustration.

      Tip:

      Support the rear shock absorber assembly LH at a position where it compresses by approximately 20 to 30 mm (0.787 to 1.18 in.).

      Loosen the 2 bolts of the rear axle beam assembly.

      Note:

      Do not remove the bolts.

  22. DISCONNECT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH

    1. C208302

      Remove the bolt while holding the nut and disconnect the rear shock absorber LH.

      Note:

      Do not turn the nut.

  23. DISCONNECT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY RH

    Tip:

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  24. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING LH

  25. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING UPPER INSULATOR LH

  26. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING LOWER INSULATOR LH

  27. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING RH

    Tip:

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  28. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING UPPER INSULATOR RH

  29. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING LOWER INSULATOR RH

  30. REMOVE REAR AXLE BEAM ASSEMBLY

    1. C158144E08

      Remove the 2 bolts and the rear axle beam assembly.

  31. REMOVE REAR AXLE CARRIER BUSHING LH

    1. C159021E14

      Put a matchmark on the rear axle beam assembly so that the mark aligns with the arrow mark on the rear axle carrier bushing LH.

      Matchmark

    2. Using a chisel and hammer, bend the 2 ribs on the bushing.

      When removing the bushing, do not erase the matchmark on the rear axle beam assembly.

    3. Using SST, remove the bushing LH from the rear axle beam assembly.

  32. REMOVE REAR AXLE CARRIER BUSHING RH

    Tip:

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.
