  5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY

  6. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE

    1. A322288

Slide the clip and disconnect the water by-pass hose assembly from the throttle body with motor assembly.

    2. Disconnect the 3 ignition coil assembly connectors, throttle body with motor assembly connector, EGR valve assembly connector and camshaft position sensor connector.

    3. Disengage the 7 clamps.

    4. A322290

Disconnect the 3 fuel injector assembly connectors.

  7. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET

    1. A322289

Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket from the intake manifold.

  8. DISCONNECT FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    Note:

Remove any dirt or foreign matter on the fuel tube connector and fuel pipe before performing this work.

    1. A322293

Remove the No. 2 fuel pipe clamp from the fuel tube sub-assembly.

    2. Check that there is no dirt or other foreign matter around the fuel tube connector before disconnecting it. Clean the joint if necessary.

Disconnect the fuel tube sub-assembly from the fuel delivery pipe.

      1. Disengage the clamp to disconnect the fuel tube sub-assembly from the fuel hose clamp as shown in the illustration.

      2. Pinch the retainer of the fuel tube connector, and then pull the fuel tube connector off of the fuel pipe.

        Note:

Be sure to disconnect the fuel tube connector by hand.

      3. If the fuel tube connector and fuel pipe are stuck, push and pull the fuel tube connector to release it. Pull the fuel tube connector off of the fuel pipe carefully.

        Note:
        • Be sure to disconnect the fuel tube connector by hand.

        • Do not allow any scratches or foreign matter to get on the parts when disconnecting them as the fuel tube connector has O-rings that seal the fuel pipe.

        • Do not forcibly bend, twist or turn the nylon tube.

      4. Check if there is any foreign matter on the sealing surfaces of the disconnected fuel lines. Clean them if necessary.

      5. Cover the disconnected fuel pipe and fuel tube connector with plastic bags to prevent damage and contamination.

  9. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE

    1. A322291

Remove the 2 bolts and fuel delivery pipe with the 3 fuel injector assemblies and 2 fuel pipe insulators.

      Note:

Do not drop the fuel injector assemblies when removing the fuel delivery pipe.

  10. REMOVE FUEL PIPE INSULATOR

    1. A322296

Remove the 2 fuel pipe insulators from the fuel delivery pipe.

  11. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY

    1. A322297

Pull the 3 fuel injector assemblies out of the fuel delivery pipe.

    2. Remove the O-ring from each fuel injector assembly.

    3. For reinstallation, attach a tag or label with the corresponding cylinder number to each fuel injector assembly.

      Note:

Protect the fuel injector assemblies by covering them with plastic bags.

  12. REMOVE INJECTOR VIBRATION INSULATOR

    1. A322299

Remove the 3 injector vibration insulators from the cylinder head sub-assembly.
