LIGHTING SYSTEM

  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    Component Function
Main Body ECU (Multiplex Network Body ECU) Receives various signals and transmits the exterior light control signal.
Front Door Courtesy Light Switch Assembly (LH*1/RH*2) Detects whether a driver door is open or closed and transmits a signal to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).
Automatic Light Control Sensor Detects the ambient light level.
Headlight ECU Sub-assembly LH/RH Receives light control signal and illuminates the headlights and clearance lights.

    Instrument Panel Junction Block Assembly

    • TAIL Relay

Supplies power to the taillights, rear side marker lights and license plate lights.

    Turn Signal Switch

    • Light Control Switch

Outputs a light control switch signal.
Steering Sensor Receives light control switch signal from the turn signal switch and transmits it to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).

  2. SYSTEM CONTROL

    1. Operating Condition

      1. The automatic light control system operates as follows:

        Function Outline
        Headlights and Taillights turn on

When all of the following conditions are met, the headlights, clearance lights, taillights, rear side marker lights and license plate lights automatically turn on:

        • The ambient light is dark or momentarily bright.

        • The ignition switch is ON.

        • The light control switch is in the AUTO position.

Headlights and Taillights turn off When the ambient light is bright, the exterior lights automatically turn off.
  3. DIAGNOSIS

    1. When the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) detects a malfunction in the automatic light control system, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are stored in memory.

    2. The DTCs can be read using the Global TechStream (GTS). For details, refer to the Repair Manual.
