CLUTCH SYSTEM DETAILS CLUTCH PEDAL

  1. CONSTRUCTION

    1. New Clutch Pedal Structure (C550 and C551 Manual Transaxle Models)

      1. Due to the elimination of intentional free play within the transmission, the new clutch mechanism is designed to gradually increase the clutch pedal full stroke as the clutch disc wear increases. The change in the non-depressed clutch pedal height enables the driver to be aware of clutch maintenance requirements.

      2. In a conventional clutch mechanism, free play is included within the full stroke of the clutch pedal and decreases in accordance with wear of the clutch disc. In the new clutch mechanism, the wear reserve stroke is additional to the clutch pedal full stroke. This enables the amount of wear reserve stroke to be greater than the amount of free play, realizing an increase of the allowable wear amount before maintenance is required.

      3. As the wear reserve stroke is additional to the clutch pedal full stroke, the clutch pedal is unrestrained until it touches the clutch pedal stopper bolt. To ensure the optimal non-depressed clutch pedal position, a spring has been added to provide slight tension.
