PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    Tech Tips

    Make sure that the manual valve lever shaft has not been rotated prior to installing the park/neutral position switch as the detent spring may become detached from the manual valve lever shaft.

      Install the park/neutral position switch to the manual valve lever shaft.

    2. Temporarily install the bolt.

    3. Install a new lock washer and the nut.

      Torque:
      7.0 N*m  { 71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf }
    4. A01DUXDE01

      Turn the control shaft lever clockwise until it stops, and then turn it counterclockwise 2 notches to set it to the N position.

    5. Adjust the park/neutral position switch Click here.

    6. Using a screwdriver, bend the tabs of the lock washer.

  2. CONNECT PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH CONNECTOR

  3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

  4. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION


    1. When moving the shift lever from P to R with the ignition switch ON and the brake pedal depressed, make sure that the shift lever moves smoothly and correctly into position.

    2. Start the engine and make sure that the vehicle moves forward after moving the shift lever from N to D, and moves in reverse after shifting to R.

      If the results are not as specified, inspect the park/ neutral position switch and check the shift lever.

  5. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION


    1. Move the shift lever to N.

      Remove the nut and disconnect the control cable.

    3. A01DUXDE01

      Turn the control shaft lever clockwise until it stops, and then turn it counterclockwise 2 notches to set it to the N position.

    4. While holding the control shaft lever slightly toward the R position side, connect the cable with the nut.

      Torque:
      14 N*m  { 143 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf }
  6. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Apply the parking brake and turn the engine switch on (IG).

      Apply the parking brake and turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. Depress the brake pedal and check that the engine starts when the shift lever is on N or P, but does not start in other positions.

    3. Check that the back-up light illuminates and the reverse warning buzzer sounds when the shift lever is on R, but do not function in other positions.

  7. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for DPF)
