DESCRIPTION
The crankshaft position sensor in the Engine Control System contains a signal plate and a pickup coil for TDC signal. The TDC signal plate has 1 tooth on its outer circumference. The TDC signal sensor generates 1 signal for every engine revolution. The ECM detects the top dead center position based on the TDC signals.

Check the crankshaft position sensor installation.
Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector.
Measure the resistance of the crankshaft position sensor.

Note
In the chart above, the terms "cold" and "hot" refer to the temperature of the sensor. "Cold" means approximately -10 to 50°C (14 to 122°F). "Hot" means approximately 50 to 100°C (122 to 212°F).

Disconnect the C4 crankshaft position sensor connector.
Disconnect the E23 ECM connector.
Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
