BACK DOOR GLASS INSTALLATION

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note:

Make sure to use Toyota Genuine Windshield Glass Adhesive (High Modulus Type) or an equivalent high modulus adhesive.

PROCEDURE

  1. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS SPACER

    1. Apply Primer G to the installation part of the spacers.

      Tip:

      If primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with non-residue solvent before it dries.

      Install 2 new spacers on the back door glass as shown in the illustration.

      Note:
      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

  2. INSTALL NO. 1 BACK DOOR GLASS SPACER

    1. Apply Primer G to the installation part of the spacer.

      Tip:

      If primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with non-residue solvent before it dries.

      No. 1 Back Window Glass Spacer

      Install a new No. 1 back window glass spacer on the back door glass as shown in the illustration.

      Note:
      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

  3. INSTALL NO. 2 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER

    Tip:

    Use the same procedure described for the other side.

  4. INSTALL BACK WINDOW OUTSIDE MOULDING LH

      Using a brush or sponge, coat the application area of a new windshield outside moulding with Primer G as shown in the illustration.

      Note:
      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

    Tip:

  6. INSTALL BACK WINDOW LOWER MOULDING

      Cut the back window moulding lower so that it is the size shown in the illustration.

    2. Remove the release paper from the back window moulding lower.

    3. Apply Primer G to the installation part of the window moulding.

      Note:
      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

    2. Using a brush or sponge, apply Primer G to the contact surface of the back door glass.

    3. Apply adhesive to the back door glass.

      1. Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration below.

        Tip:

        After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time written in the table below.

      2. Load the sealer gun with the cartridge.

      3. Apply adhesive to the back door glass as shown in the illustration.

    4. Install the back door glass to the vehicle body.

      1. Hold the back window glass in place securely with tape or equivalent until the adhesive has hardened.

        Note:
        • Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.

        • Check that the clips are attached to the vehicle body correctly.

        • Check the clearance between the vehicle body and glass.

      2. Lightly press the front surface of the back door glass to ensure that the back door glass is securely fit to the vehicle body.

      3. Using a scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive.

        Tip:

        Apply adhesive to the glass rim.

        Note:

        Do not drive the vehicle within the time written in the table below.

  17. CHECK FOR BACK DOOR GLASS

    1. Conduct a leak test after the adhesive has completely hardened.

    2. Seal any leaks with auto glass sealer.
