DESCRIPTION

When the stop and start system does not operate, check whether the operation is prohibited because the battery conditions are not met.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Stop and Start / Trouble Codes.

    5. Read the DTCs.

      The status depend on the value of "Integrated Current", and OK/NG threshold differs according to the battery temperature.

      Oper Prohibition (Jump Start)

      Prohibit: Engine started with the engine hood open and the ignition switch turned to START

      When Prohibit is displayed, the stop and start control will be prohibited until the ignition switch is turned off.

      Oper Prohibition (Manual Start)

      Prohibition of stop and start control based on the manual start conditions/

      Prohibit: During manual start

      When Prohibit is displayed, the stop and start control will be prohibited until the ignition switch is turned off.

      Conditions for Manual Start:

      • Clutch start switch OFF or vehicle speed

      • Neutral position sensor (neutral position switch) OFF

      • Starter signal OFF

        Leave the battery under room temperature conditions until its temperature becomes as specified. Then check the battery condition and recharge or replace the battery.

        • After recharging the battery, initialize the integrated current value* and drive the vehicle until stop and start control operation is permitted (approximately 15 to 40 minutes).

          *: Disconnect the cables from the battery, wait for 30 seconds or more and then reconnect the cables.

        • When the battery sensor current value is normal, recharge or replace the battery.
