      2. B006ETG

Install a new or known good transmitter battery.

        Note

When replacing the transmitter battery, before starting work, remove static electricity that has built up in the body by touching, for example, the vehicle to prevent the smart key door control transmitter housing set from being damaged.

        Tech Tips

If a new or known good transmitter battery is not available, first connect 2 new 1.5 V batteries in series. Then connect leads to the batteries and apply 3 V to the smart key door control transmitter housing set, as shown in the illustration.

      3. From outside the vehicle, approximately 1 m (3.28 ft.) away from the driver door outside door handle, test the smart key door control transmitter housing set by pointing its key plate at the vehicle and pressing a smart key door control transmitter housing set switch.

        OK
The door lock can be operated via the smart key door control transmitter housing set.
The LED comes on more than once.

        • The operation area differs depending on the user, the way the smart key door control transmitter housing set is held, and the location.

        • The smart key door control transmitter housing set weak radio waves may be affected if the area has strong radio waves or noise. The smart key door control transmitter housing set operation area may be shortened or the smart key door control transmitter housing set may not function.

    2. Inspect the transmitter battery capacity.

      1. Remove the transmitter battery from the smart key door control transmitter housing set that does not operate. Attach a lead wire (0.6 mm (0.0236 in.) in diameter or less including wire sheath) with tape or equivalent to the negative terminal.

        Note

Do not wrap the lead wire around a terminal, wedge it between the terminals, or solder it. A terminal may be deformed or damaged, and the transmitter battery will not be able to be installed correctly.

      2. B006GZ3

Carefully pull the lead wire out from the position shown in the illustration and install the previously removed transmitter battery.

        Note

When replacing the transmitter battery, before starting work, remove static electricity that has built up in the body by touching, for example, the vehicle to prevent the electrical key transmitter from being damaged.

        *a GND

        Check the transmitter battery voltage.

        Tech Tips

When measuring the transmitter battery voltage, while operating the lock sensor of a door handle, bring the smart key door control transmitter housing set within the entry operating range to perform the measurement. For the entry operating range, refer to System Description.

        Standard Voltage:
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
Transmitter battery positive (+) - Transmitter battery negative (-) Engine switch off, all doors closed and lock sensor touched 2.5 to 3.2 V

        Tech Tips

If the result is not as specified, replace the transmitter battery.

  2. INSPECT ELECTRICAL KEY TRANSMITTER (for Card Type)

    1. Inspect the operation of the electrical key transmitter.

      1. Remove the transmitter (card key) battery (lithium battery: CR2412) from the electrical key transmitter.

      2. B006AXM

Install a new or normal transmitter (card key) battery (lithium battery: CR2412).

        Tech Tips

If a new or normal transmitter (card key) battery is not available, first connect 2 new 1.5 V batteries in series. Then connect leads to the batteries and apply 3 V to the electrical key transmitter as shown in the illustration.

      3. Hold the electrical key transmitter facing towards the vehicle approximately 1 m (3.28 ft.) away from the driver side front door outside handle assembly and check that the doors lock when the lock switch on the driver side front door outside handle assembly is pressed.

        OK
        All doors can be locked.

        Note

        • Make sure the engine switch is off.

        • Make sure to close all doors.

        • Do not wedge the tip of the tester lead between the terminals, as a terminal may be deformed or damaged.

    2. Inspect the battery capacity.

      1. Remove the transmitter (card key) battery from the electrical key transmitter that does not operate. Attach a lead wire to the negative (-) and positive (+) side of the transmitter (card key) battery with tape or equivalent.

        Note

Do not wrap the lead wire around a terminal, wedge it between the terminals, or solder it. A terminal may be deformed or damaged, and the transmitter (card key) battery will not be able to be installed correctly.

        *a GND

Check the transmitter (card key) battery voltage.

        Tech Tips

When measuring the transmitter (card key) battery voltage, while operating the lock switch of a door handle, bring the electrical key transmitter within the entry operation range to perform the measurement. For the entry operation range, refer to Operation Check.

        Standard Voltage:
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
Transmitter (card key) battery positive (+) - Transmitter (card key) battery negative (-) Engine switch off, all doors closed and lock sensor touched 2.3 to 3.2 V

If the result is not as specified, replace the transmitter (card key) battery.

        Note

Before measuring the transmitter (card key) battery voltage, make sure that the positive (+) side of the battery is set towards the LEXUS mark side.
