STEERING LOCK SYSTEM

  1. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    Component Function
Steering Lock Actuator Assembly Receives the steering wheel unlock/lock request signal from the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) and ID code box (immobiliser code ECU), and activates the steering lock motor.
Certification ECU (Smart Key ECU Assembly) Transmits the steering wheel lock/unlock signals.
ID Code Box (Immobiliser Code ECU) Receives immobiliser set/unset request signals from the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) via LIN communication and sends them to the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly.
Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Assembly Receives the steering unlock set/unset request signals from the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly), certifies them, and activates the steering lock motor.
Combination Meter Assembly Master Warning Light Flashes to warn the driver in accordance with signals from the steering lock control system.
Multi Buzzer Sounds to warn the driver of a malfunction in the system.
Multi-information Display Displays a warning message to inform the driver of a malfunction in the steering lock control system.
  2. FUNCTION

    1. The steering lock actuator assembly is integrated into the steering lock ECU, and the ECU controls the lock bar operation in the steering lock actuator assembly through the control of the lock/unlock motor.

    2. The steering lock ECU detects the position (lock/unlock) of the lock bar and transmits this information to the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) and hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly.

    3. In this system, the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) determines whether to lock or unlock the steering based on communication with the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly. Then, the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) sends lock or unlock command signals to the steering lock ECU via LIN communication. Upon receiving the signals, the steering lock ECU operates the lock/unlock motor to lock or unlock the steering.

      Tech Tips

It is not possible to replace only the steering lock ECU in the steering lock actuator assembly. Therefore, if the ECU is malfunctioning, the entire steering lock assembly must be replaced.
