PRECAUTION FOR DISCONNECTING CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL
Note
When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, initialize the following systems after the cable is reconnected:
| System | See Procedure |
|---|---|
| Lane Departure Alert System (w/ Steering Control) | |
| Pre-crash Safety System | |
| Intelligent Parking Assist System | |
| Power Door Lock Control System |
HANDLING PRECAUTION FOR ROAD SIGN ASSIST SYSTEM
The system may not detect traffic signs under the following conditions:
The forward recognition camera is misaligned.
Dirt, snow, ice or a sticker is on the windshield glass in front of the forward recognition camera.
Driving in bad weather (heavy rain or snow, or dense fog).
The headlights of an oncoming vehicle or sunlight is shining directly on the forward recognition camera.
The sign is dirty, faded or tilted, or the contrast of an electronic sign is poor.
Whole or part of the sign is blocked by an object.
The vehicle passes the sign too quickly after the sign comes into view.
The traffic conditions are misjudged.
The system may incorrectly recognize traffic signs under the following conditions:
A sign is on an adjacent lane or side road, or immediately after traffic lanes merge or diverge.
A sticker or graphic is on the rear of a preceding vehicle.
An object which is not a traffic sign is similar in appearance.
The system has not completed learning after entering a different country.
The traffic conditions are misjudged.
PRECAUTION FOR TROUBLESHOOTING
When a connector is damaged or loose or a part is improperly installed, the system may only temporarily return to normal if the part is removed and installed without thorough diagnosis and repair.
The road sign assist system may be affected by malfunctions in other systems. Check for DTCs in other systems and, if present, troubleshoot those DTCs first.
PRECAUTION FOR REPLACING FORWARD RECOGNITION CAMERA
If the forward recognition camera has been replaced with a new one or the windshield glass has been removed and installed, it is necessary to perform forward recognition camera adjustment. If the system is turned on without performing forward recognition camera adjustment, DTC C1AA9 will be stored.
When replacing the forward recognition camera, replace it with a new one. If a forward recognition camera which was installed to another vehicle is used, the information stored in the forward recognition camera will not match the information from the vehicle and a DTC may be stored.
When replacing the forward recognition camera, do not damage the camera lens or allow it to become contaminated with foreign matter.
Do not reuse a forward recognition camera that has been dropped or subjected to a strong impact.
PRECAUTION FOR REPLACING WINDSHIELD GLASS
When replacing the windshield glass of a vehicle equipped with a forward recognition camera, make sure to use a Toyota genuine part. If a non-Toyota genuine part is used, the forward recognition camera may not be able to be installed due to a missing bracket or the road sign assist system may not operate properly due to a difference in the transmissivity or black ceramic border.
Do not attach stickers, including transparent stickers, or other items to the outer side of the windshield glass within the area in front of the forward recognition camera.
