PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM ADJUSTMENT

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL


    1. Pull the parking brake lever to fully engage the parking brake.

    2. Release the parking brake lever to disengage the parking brake.

    3. Slowly pull the parking brake lever all the way, and count the number of clicks.

      Standard parking brake lever travel when pulled with a force of 200 N (20 kgf, 45 lbf)
      7 to 9 clicks
  2. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (w/ Console Box Lid)

  3. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Console Box Lid)

  4. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  5. ADJUST REAR DRUM BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE


    1. for 2WD:

  6. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL


    1. Completely release the parking brake lever.

    2. B0027PCC01
      *1 Lock Nut
      *2 Adjusting Nut

      Loosen the lock nut.

    3. Turn the adjusting nut until the parking brake lever travel is correct.

      Standard parking brake lever travel when pulled with a force of 200 N (20 kgf, 45 lbf)
      7 to 9 clicks
    4. Tighten the lock nut.

      Torque:
      5.2 N*m  { 53 kgf*cm, 46 in.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      If the parking brake lever travel cannot be fully adjusted with this procedure, proceed to the adjust parking brake turn buckle procedure.

  7. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE TURN BUCKLE


    1. B0027H9C01
      *1 Lock Nut
      *2 Parking Brake Turn Buckle

      Loosen the lock nut and turn the parking brake turn buckle until the lever travel is correct.

      Standard parking brake lever travel when pulled with a force of 200 N (20 kgf, 45 lbf)
      7 to 9 clicks
    2. Tighten the lock nut.

      Torque:
      5.0 N*m  { 51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf }
  8. INSPECT BRAKE WARNING LIGHT


    1. Operate the parking brake lever and check the illumination condition of the brake warning light.

      OK
      The brake warning light always illuminates at the first click.
  9. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (w/ Console Box Lid)
