STEERING PAD ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK STEERING PAD (VEHICLE NOT INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYED)

    1. Perform a diagnostic system check (Click here).

    2. With the steering pad installed on the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the steering pad with a new one:

      Cuts, minute cracks, or marked discoloration on the steering pad.

  2. CHECK STEERING PAD (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYED)

    1. Perform a diagnostic system check (Click here).

    2. With the steering pad removed from the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the steering pad with a new one:

      • Cuts, minute cracks, or marked discoloration on the steering pad.

      • Cracks or other damage to the connectors.

      • Deformation or cracks in the steering pad contact plate.

      CAUTION:

      For removal and installation of the steering pad, be sure to follow the correct procedure.
