STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY REMOVAL


  1. PRECAUTION

    Click here

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

  3. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY (for 3 Spoke)

      Remove the screw.

    2. A01E2AQ

      Detach the 3 pins and remove the steering pad.

    3. Disconnect the horn wire.

  5. REMOVE STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY (for 4 Spoke)

  6. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH (for 4 Spoke with Steering Pad Switch)

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT (for 4 Spoke without Steering Pad Switch)

      Remove the screw.

    2. Detach the 2 pins and remove the steering wheel ornament.

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT (for 4 Spoke without Steering Pad Switch)

      Remove the screw.

    2. Detach the 2 pins and remove the steering wheel ornament.

  9. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

    2. A01DZ8BE03

      Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.

    3. Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

      SST
      09950-50013   ( 09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021 )

      Note

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.

  10. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN LOWER COVER

    1. Remove the 3 screws and cover lower.

  11. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN UPPER COVER

  12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT LOWER PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Detach the 2 claws, 3 clips and 3 guides and remove the lower instrument panel finish panel.

  13. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable.

      Note

      When handling the airbag connector, do not damage the airbag wire harness.

    2. Detach the 3 claws and remove the spiral cable.

  14. REMOVE WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. A01DYXB

      Disconnect the connectors.

    2. Detach the claw and remove the windshield wiper switch.

      Note

      Do not push the claw with excessive force as damage may occur.

  15. REMOVE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. A01DVFS

      Disconnect the connector.

    2. A01DWTZ

      Using needle-nose pliers, remove the band clamp as shown in the illustration.

    3. A01DZ85

      Using a screwdriver, detach the claws and remove the switch.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  16. DISCONNECT STEERING SLIDING YOKE

    1. Loose the bolt labeled A.

    2. Make matchmarks on the steering yoke and steering intermediate shaft.

    3. Remove the bolt labeled B.

  17. DISCONNECT CONNECTOR


    1. Disconnect the connectors.

  18. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 3 bolts and cover.

  19. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the 3 bolts and pull out the steering column together with the steering sliding with coupling yoke.
