CYLINDER HEAD REASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE

  1. INSTALL CYLINDER HEAD STUD BOLT

    1. A324380

      Using an E7 "TORX" socket wrench, install the 4 cylinder head stud bolts.

      10 N*m

      102 kgf*cm

      7 ft.*lbf

  2. INSTALL VALVE STEM OIL SEAL OR RING

    1. A324381

      Apply a light coat of engine oil to new valve stem oil seal or rings.

      Using SST, push in the valve stem oil seal or rings.

      Note:

      Failure to use SST will cause the valve stem oil seal or rings to be damaged or improperly seated.

  3. INSTALL INTAKE VALVE

    1. Install the intake valve, inner compression spring and valve spring retainer to the cylinder head sub-assembly.

      Note:

      Install the same parts in the same combination to their original locations.

      Tip:

      Install the inner compression spring with the small end facing up.

      Using SST and wooden blocks, compress the inner compression spring and install the 2 valve spring retainer locks.

    3. A324384

      Using a plastic hammer, lightly tap the valve stem tip to ensure a proper fit.

      Note:

      Be careful not to damage the valve spring retainer.

  4. INSTALL EXHAUST VALVE

    1. Install the exhaust valve, inner compression spring and valve spring retainer to the cylinder head sub-assembly.

      Note:

      Install the same parts in the same combination to their original locations.

      Tip:

      Install the inner compression spring with the small end facing up.

      Using SST and wooden blocks, compress the inner compression spring and install the 2 valve spring retainer locks.

    3. A324386

      Using a plastic hammer, lightly tap the valve stem tip to ensure a proper fit.

      Note:

      Be careful not to damage the valve spring retainer.

  5. INSTALL VALVE LIFTER

    1. Install the valve lifters.

      Note:

      Install the valve lifters in their original places.
