STARTER(w/ Stop And Start System) DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS

   1. 

      Remove the 2 nuts and wire harness from the starter assembly.

2. REMOVE HARNESS

   1. 

      Remove the 2 harness connectors to remove the harness from the starter assembly.

3. REMOVE STARTER INRUSH CURRENT REDUCTION RELAY

   1. 

      Remove the nut and disconnect the lead wire from the terminal M.

   2. Remove the 2 bolts and starter inrush current reduction relay.

4. REMOVE REPAIR SERVICE STARTER KIT

   1. 

      Holding the repair service starter kit to the starter drive housing assembly, remove the 2 nuts.

   2. 

      *1	Pinion Drive Lever
      *2	Plunger
      *a	Hook

      While lifting the front of the repair service starter kit, remove the hook from the pinion drive lever, then remove the repair service starter kit.

      Note:

      Do not drop the plunger when removing the repair service starter kit.

5. REMOVE STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY

   1. 

      Using a T25 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 bolts.

   2. 

      Remove the starter yoke assembly together with the starter commutator end frame assembly from the starter drive housing assembly.

6. REMOVE STARTER COMMUTATOR END FRAME ASSEMBLY

   1. 

      Remove the 2 screws.

   2. 

      Remove the starter commutator end frame assembly from the starter yoke assembly.

      Note:

      while holding down the lead wire, remove the starter commutator end frame assembly.

7. REMOVE STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY

   1. 

      *a	Spring
      *b	Brush

      Using a screwdriver, hold the spring back and disconnect the 4 brushes.

   2. Remove the starter brush holder assembly.

8. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY

   1. 

      Remove the starter armature assembly from the starter yoke assembly.

9. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE PLATE

   1. 

      *1	Starter Drive Housing Assembly
      *2	Starter Yoke Assembly
      *3	Starter Armature Plate

      Remove the starter armature plate from the starter drive housing assembly or starter yoke assembly.

10. REMOVE PLANETARY GEAR

    1. 

       Remove the 3 planetary gears from the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly.

11. REMOVE STARTER CENTER BEARING CLUTCH SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. 

       *1	Rubber Seal
       *2	Pinion Drive Lever
       *3	Starter Center Bearing Clutch Sub-assembly

       Remove the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly together with the pinion drive lever and rubber seal from the starter drive housing assembly.

    2. Remove the pinion drive lever and rubber seal from the starter center bearing clutch sub-assembly.
